Clean Teeth Taffy and Anti Cavity Candies

What’s the first food item you think of when you read the word CAVITY?

Chances are, many of you thought of candy.  Because candy is known for containing lots of sugar, dental professionals have been lecturing patients for years about avoiding it.  Parents have been warning their kids with the ole’ ” You’ll rot your teeth out” lecture.  Oddly enough, there is a little confusion when it comes to how candy contributes to the decay process. It’s not sugar alone…

HOW DOES SUGAR IN CANDY CONTRIBUTE TO CAVITIES?

Here’s a quick breakdown of how the sugar in candy can contribute to a person’s decay risk.

Sugar + Bacteria = Acid (Germs eat the sugar and give off acid as a by product)

Acids + Tooth = Decay (Plaque Acids essentially destroy tooth structure)

Although there are several ways to reduce a person’s risk for decay, avoiding sugar is a solid plan.

Let’s be realistic.  Candy tastes Great.  I like candy…  and I think people should be able to enjoy it.  Luckily you have some wonderful sugar free options like Zolli Pops, Zolli Drops and Zaffi Taffy! All of these tasty treats contain xylitol, a sugar substitute that does not promote bacteria growth.  It actually inhibits germs from colonizing.  They are also dairy and gluten free and use natural ingredients for flavor.

REDUCE ACIDS AFTER MEALS

Every time we eat, the pH in our mouth can drop to a level where the enamel on our teeth gets soft.  following up with  the right sugar free candy  can help rehydrate the teeth and

You know what makes this company even cooler?  Kid entrepreneur Lola Morse created these candies so that humans everywhere could enjoy a nice sweet treat without putting themselves at risk for decay.  She is a real go getter and I’m happy to help support her company.

This is such an amazing product and is definitely needed these days. Cavities are the number one preventable disease affecting children today. This could help so much! I’d love to get some free samples!

  2. Kim says:

I am a candy loving dental hygienist, especially the sticky, chewy ones….the worse kind…….a xylitol sweetned candy is just what the dentist/hygienist ordered. Would love to share this with patients.

  3. Tammy says:

I’m a hard candy kind of person and butterscotch ones are my favorite. I’m a second year dental hygiene student would love to hand your products out to my patients!

  4. Heidi says:

My favorite candy is probably sour patch kids or gummy bears/gummy worms. Really more of the chewy candy vs hard candy 🙂 I’m a Dental Hygienist too, so a sugar free option with xylitol is great and would make me feel way less guilty!

  5. Julianna says:

I’m a dental hygienist and would love to give these out as treat after cleanings! I recommend xylitol on a daily basis so these are perfect. Love both hard and chewy, hate to admit as a hygienist but I love candy 😀

  6. Kristie says:

Ashamed to say that my favorite candies are air heads!! I’m a dental hygienist and our office is convieniently located in walking proximity to a candy store.. I prefer chewy candies!

  7. Kate says:

I’m a candy lover and a hygienist. That makes perfect sense right? If I had to choose, I would pick hard candy like lollipops. Would love to try out zollipops. Great idea!

  8. Barb says:

I am a Dental Hygienist and prefer that my child doesn’t eat candy. He tried it at Halloween for the first time and now all he talks about is candy. I would love for him to have the opportunity to try your product. It does not matter to him if it is hard or soft candy as long as he gets candy. I am sure he would love it!

  9. Susan LeCoultre says:

My daughter and I occasionally care for two autistic children. The four of us love suckers! These treats will be perfect for them as many autistic children have an extremely hard time tolerating tooth-brushing. Xylitol is actually a recommendation for autistic children in many “caring for autistic children” publications! Wonderful product!

  10. Teresa Willis says:

I love any kind of chewy candy, We are moving into a new office soon. These would be perfect to give our patients along with our new referral cards.

  11. Nadia says:

My favorite candy is Sour Punch Straws. I’m all about that chewy candy. Because of that, I’ve had 2 root canals. Oops! Time to kick the junk out.

  12. Amanda Haddix says:

This article could not have come at a more perfect time! My daughter is regressing in potty training and her absolute favorite treat is suckers so I wanted to find a sugar free option as a potty reward so thank you!!!
